Insurance Agent

Spectrum Insurance Group is searching for an experienced agent/producer to join our team! This position may work out of our Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, or Stevens Point office.

The agent is responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting, and selling commercial, personal and/or employee benefits to new and existing clients while advocating products, programs and resources that build a book of business through increased sales and retention of existing clients.

Responsibilities

Sales, Marketing and Account Management

  • Develops a book of business that is profitable for both the agency and the carriers
  • Actively develops, manages, and maintains a pipeline of client and prospect lists
  • Advocates programs that build business through increased sales and market share
  • Prequalifies insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk
  • Recruits current and potential customers through phone calls and location visits
  • Builds and maintains relationships with insureds based on trust and communication
  • Develops insurance bids and proposals and conducts presentations to prospective and existing clients on new and renewal business
  • Asks for referrals to generate new business; responds to referrals quickly and effectively
  • Designs insurance plans and recommends coverages to clients ensuring limit and coverages adequacy
  • Provides consultative customer service by listening to customer needs and providing appropriate insurance solutions to meet those needs
  • Understands and explains features and benefits of products and services offered
  • Surveys loss exposure, needs, and possible uninsurable or difficult to insure exposures
  • Recommends and helps insureds carry out loss control programs, independently and with company loss control staff
  • Meets service and sales standards of volume with timeliness and quality
  • Uses each client contact as an opportunity for coverage review and marketing/sales
  • Develops sales goals and action plans; meets with manager regularly to review results
  • Monitors competitor marketing and pricing strategies
  • Manages time effectively by scheduling calls to minimize time and distance traveled
  • Continually advances knowledge of insurance products, services, and resources
  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance
  • Completes and submits applications and related documentation to appropriate markets
  • Prepares, requests, and delivers binders to insureds
  • Educates clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures
  • Collects payments from insureds for purchases of new and upgraded coverages, and obtains signatures on all applications for insureds
  • Acknowledges non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions to document file and lower errors and omissions exposures
  • Explains coverages and exclusions and documents explanations on automated file
  • Drafts letters to clients regarding additional coverages, information, resources, and advice regarding insurance matters
  • Assists with annual review of existing policy coverages to upgrade accounts and remarket, if necessary
  • Assists service staff to collect client information in preparation of schedules of insurance, summaries, and renewal proposals
  • Reviews appropriate policy change requests and other account activity; documents automated file as appropriate.
  • Contacts insureds to assist in collection of past due premiums or audit amounts
  • Retains assigned percentage of accounts at each renewal
  • Communicates necessary client information to company personnel, and documents system by transaction date
Requirements
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years’ experience with property and casualty and/or life and health insurance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sales, marketing, and effective selling techniques
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of insurance products, markets, rating, and underwriting procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    Sales oriented with strong customer service skills
  • Ability to perform complex, multi-step processes/procedures accurately and efficiently
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, accurately, efficiently, and independently
  • Ability to generate new business sales, retain existing business, and to close sales
License and Certification Requirements

Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health License

Customer Service Representative - Commercial Lines - Transportation/Trucking

We are looking for YOU to join our team and be our NEW Customer Service Representative supporting Spectrum’s Transportation and Trucking business. You will support our team by working with the account managers, submitting change requests, processing endorsements and policies, preparing proposals, answering incoming phone calls, and maintaining our agency management system with current information. This position will report to the Eau Claire office, but may work out of our Eau Claire, Hudson, Tomah, or Onalaska office.

Qualified candidates will have their Property and Casualty License and a minimum of 1-3 years experience working with transportation and trucking.

Responsibilities

Production Support

  • Completes applications in coordination with Agent, Account Executive or Account Manager(s) and submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers
  • Prepares proposals and renewal summaries
  • Maintains agency management system with up-to-date and accurate data
  • Administers processing and suspense of new business, renewals, cancellations, and endorsement requests
  • Prepares certificates, binders, surety bonds and general correspondence
  • Completes MVR requests and trucking certificates according to scheduled rotation
  • Administers change requests and endorsements
  • Completes applications in coordination with Agent, Account Manager/Executive
  • Answers incoming phone calls, greets and assists agency visitors
  • Acts as primary and/or secondary back-up to front desk receptionist, if applicable
Administrative
  • Organizes tasks and resources to complete work and meet deadlines according to established procedures
  • Makes decisions on a variety of tasks frequently requiring discretion, judgment and initiative guided by general procedures or standards
  • Responds to incoming phone calls and emails promptly and effectively
  • Performs basic office functions including emailing, filing, scanning, copying, and faxing
Customer Service
  • Delivers exceptional customer service according to Spectrum’s Customer Service Standards with a goal of exceeding customer expectations with every interaction
  • Promotes a customer-focused environment by providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service to internal and external customers
  • Answers customer questions and resolves complaints in a timely and efficient manner
  • Supports a team-oriented environment by interacting in a professional, collaborative, and respectful manner with all employees, clients, customers and/or vendors
Requirements
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Work experience required to perform this job satisfactorily is typically acquired through a minimum of one-year insurance industry experience in commercial transportation and trucking.
